Shunting in Automatic Area (S.R.9.13 (v)

Ø
Whenever
it becomes necessary to make shunt movements against the direction of traffic
SM shall advise the SM at the other end of the section and the controller on
duty if control working is in force.
Ø
After
ensuring that the section is clear SM shall issue a written memo to the LP to
shunt up to the specified location and return back.
Ø
For
forward movement starter or Shunt signal if any shall be cleared.
Ø
In
the return direction the point at which the train shall stop before being
received in to the station shall also be mentioned in the memo.
Ø
The
individual numbers of the automatic signals the LP has to pass while performing
shunting shall be mentioned in the memo.
Single Line
Ø Shunting is
permitted beyond LSS up to the next Automatic/ Semiautomatic/Home signal of the
station in advance.
Ø SM shall advise the
other end SM and obtain a PN.
Ø Direction of traffic
shall be established.
Ø Shunt Key (Up/Dn)
+written memo is given as authority.
