Protection in Automatic Area. (Rules
3.62, 6.03 & 9.10)
1.
When
a train is detained in the mid section due to accident, Engine failure,
Obstruction or any other cause LP shall switch on the flasher light
immediately.
2.
In
case of Double Line if the adjacent line is obstructed or suspected to be
obstructed Warning signals shall be lit and exhibited to stop the train.
3.
Protection
shall be done immediately by placing the detonators-There are two kinds of protection
in Automatic territory.
(a) If the obstruction is due to a train or
part of a train on the rails protection shall be done by placing one detonator
at 90 metres and two detonators 10 metres apart at 180 metres. A hand danger
signal shall be exhibited at a distance of 45 metres from the last
detonator.
(b) If the obstruction is due to reasons
other than a train or part of a train on the rails protection shall be done by
placing one detonator at 600 metres and 3 detonators 10 metres apart at 1200 M.
A hand danger signal shall be exhibited at a distance of 45 M from the last
detonator.
Protection in Single Line
If a train is stopped in the midsection
due to accident, engine failure,
obstruction or any other cause it shall be protected on both sides. Engine crew
shall protect in the front and guard shall protect in rear. First detonator
shall be placed at 90M and 2 detonators 10M apart shall be placed at 180M. At a
distance of 45M from the last detonator hand danger signal shall be exhibited.
Protection in
Double Line
If the adjacent line is obstructed or
suspected to be obstructed it shall be protected first towards the direction of
approaching train by the engine crew by following the Absolute norms, (Rule 3.62),
then the occupied line shall be protected in rear by the guard by following
Automatic norms (Rule 9.10), If relief has been asked for the same line shall
be protected by the engine crew in the front also as per Automatic norms.(Rule
9.10).
Protection in Twin Single Line
If the adjacent Line is obstructed or
suspected to be obstructed it shall be protected first in front by the engine
crew and in rear by the guard. Then the occupied line shall be protected in the
same manner. For protection of adjacent line absolute norms shall be followed
and for protection of occupied line automatic norms shall be followed.
