Cranking Procedure of Dual Cab Loco


Ensure loco is secured with skids and hand brakes applied.
Drain all moisture from MR1, MR2, J filters & close drain cocks.
Ensure BP / FP COACs, MR /BC Eq. COCs are closed.
Check Repair Book for remarks, shutdown reason, date and time
If shutdown time is more than 48 hrs, contact PRC / Shed
Check water & all oil levels
Check safety devices, items and fittings
Ensure EFCO not pressed in both cabs
Ensure MUSD RUN button pressed in both cabs
Ensure starting fuse is intact and close battery knife switch

In Inactive cab
Keep Isolation switch in Run
Keep Cont / FP slider switch in ON, ER & GF in OFF
A9 in FS, SA9 in Release & LT switch in Trail
Switch ON Computer & MAB breakers
Keep GF Breaker in OFF

In Active Cab
Keep Isolation switch in Isolate
Cont/FP, ER & GF slider switches in ON
A9 in Run, SA9 in Full application & LT switch in Lead
Keep MAB in OFF & GF Breaker in ON
Switch ON Computer breaker only after switching ON required ECC1 breakers.
Select Starting system in DID
Keep EST to FUEL PRIME, FPR picks up & FPM starts
Ensure Fuel return sight glass filled with fuel without any bubbles
Keep EST to START position, STA & ST will picks up and engine starts
If not cranked within 20 seconds, allow 2 minutes cooling for starting motors before re-cranking
Switch ON MAB breaker after MR pressure reaches above 8 kg/cm2
Keep Isolation switch in run after 5 minutes.
Note: If Start button is provided instead of EST, press it for minimum 2 seconds
Priming will start
DID will show “Priming cycle ON – Engine will crank soon, Press stop button if do not want to crank”.
After 30 seconds, engine will crank automatically.

Switch ON MAB breaker after MR pressure builds up.
