- Recover penalty as per message
- Try by recycling of MAB / CCBSB breaker, if not successful
- Keep A9 in Emergency.
- LT switch from Lead to Trail
- Wait for 60 seconds
- Keep LT switch in Lead & Keep A9 in Run
- Recover penalty as per message
- If not successful, clear the block section cautiously with DBV, if provided
- Contact shed with fault code for conducting air brake self test
DBV
working procedure
- During CCB failure and unable to rectify, close BP, FP angle COCs between Loco and formation.
- Switch off MAB (HHP Loco) / CCBSB (ALCO Loco).
- Change PERCOS position in CCB unit form vertical to horizontal.
- Keep DBV handle in Release (II) position.
- Check BP pressure in Gauge.
- If required, adjust by lifting & rotating knob in DBV.
- Apply & release DBV handle and ensure recreation to same level.
- Open BP, FP Angle COCs and allow pressure charging to formation.
- Ensure BP gauge and Air flow indicator readings.
- Check BP Continuity.
- If loco brakes not releasing, press TPBC, TP20, TP16 or KE valve release handle.
- LT Switch & BVC will not function except A9 in emergency.
- Clear section using DBV for brake application.
- For application move DBV handle from II towards V position (BP will drop continuously).
- After attaining required drop, keep DBV handle in III (Lap) Position.
- For recreating BP, keep in II position.
- Conjunction loco BC pr. supplied by KE valve will be 3.8 kg/cm2 (Max. in HHP) and 1.8 kg/cm2 (Max in ALCO).
- Work with restricted speed – Power will be cut off if speed exceeds.
- Note: Other C/stand DBV should be in III position.
KE
valve
- Provided for applying loco brake during CCB power failure & in dead loco
- Even though MR pressure is available, Loco brake will release automatically once it’s backup reservoir pressure drops.
- While working LE, whenever CCB fails, Loco should be secured immediately before attending the fault.
- Before moving a LE it’s working to be ensured
Procedure
for checking KE valve backup
- Secure Loco by hand brakes & skids
- Ensure MR & BP pressure
- Keep A9 in Run & SA9 in Release – ensure BC is zero
- Switch OFF MAB / CCBSB breaker
- Ensure BC pressure charging to 3.8 kg/cm2 (1.8 kg/cm2 in ALCO)
- If KE valve is not working, Loco brakes will not apply during CCB power failure (inform shed)
