Precautions before starting a train (GR/SR
4.30, 4.31 & 4.32)
Every LP before starting a train shall
examine the notices issued for their guidance and ascertain whether any special
attention is required on that section.
Ø BPC is correct in all respects end prescribed vacuum/Air pressure is
available in Engine & B-Van.
Ø Before commencement of journey the LP shall ensure that his engine is in
proper working order.
Ø The couplings between the engine and the train are properly secured.
Ø The head light & marker lights are in order and burning brightly when
required.
Ø In case of coupling multiple units the LP shall observe all electrical
couplings are properly made.
Starting
of Trains (Rule 4.35)
Ø An LP shall not start his train from a station without the ATP, before
starting he shall satisfy himself that correct fixed signals and, where
necessary, hand signals are given.
Ø He shall also ensure that the line before him is clear of visible
obstruction & Guard has given the signal to start.
Ø In case of LE & Trains unaccompanied by the guard duties of Guard
shall devolve on the LP.
Ø If it is a Notice station/starting station LP is given with caution order
in form T/409 or T/A409.
