Flasher Light Instructions

Ø  Individual control unit for manual operation of flasher light for each direction
Ø   Flasher light is provided with main / standby toggle switch, LP can use any one
Ø  LP / ALP shall test Flasher light working while TOC & condition shall be recorded in the repair book
Ø  Crew shall not take out loco from shed if Flasher / SPM not working
Ø  If Flasher not working while on run – switch ON / OFF HLs.
Ø  While TOC, if Flasher / SPM is not working – Contact PRC
Ø  Irrespective of AFL working / not working – manually switch On flasher lights whenever BP drops  / AFI deviates on run without A9 application, to attract attention of Crew of an approaching train
·         To warn about obstruction
·         To warn about unsafe condition on the track
Ø  LP of approaching train shall reduce the speed and be prepared to stop short of obstruction / FL in ON condition
Ø  In double line, if a train is detained for any reason, FL shall be switched ON immediately before investigating the cause.
Ø  If AFL works along with BP drop, AFL shall not be reseted until ensuring safety of other line.

Trouble shooting for Auto Flasher Malfunctioning:
Engine speed comes to IDLE.
Isolate AFL through Isolation Switch (if provided) or Disconnect Wire No. 171 available in AFL unit
Pack PR3 in de-energized condition / Disconnect P2 wire connection
Work with normal Flasher Light & Contact shed
